Ally

Ally took care of her aging grandmother. Her grandmother had multiple ailments. She required constant care. She did not want to leave home. Ally did not want her to go to a nursing home. She volunteered to take care of her. home health workers came in to help her with various things.
No one else in the family would step up. Many lived on the other side of the country. The ones who did live by refused to help. Ally and her grandmother had always been close. She took care of her after her mom died.  She loved her grandmother. This was the least she could do.
Her grandmother’s condition got worse and worse. The doctors said it would not belong. She died in her bedroom. In the place where she lived for 55 years.
They had a funeral for her. She was very sad.  She knew that she had been very sick. It was not a surprise but it was still very hard. She tried to focus on the good memories. She had plenty of them.
She tried to move on. She had moved on with her life. Her grandmother’s social security check came in. She had informed the government that her grandmother had died. She did all the necessary paperwork. She thought that it was a done deal.
She had contacted the social security administration. They told her to send it back. She followed the instructions. She sent it back. She figured that it was a mix-up and it was cleared up now.
Over a month later she got another check. She was frustrated that it was not cleared up. She had fallen on hard times.   She had stopped working to care for her grandmother. She was paid a stipend for helping her. That’s was gone now.  She got a job but it was. Minimum wage. She was not getting a lot of hours.
She thought to herself that that check would fall. help. she chided herself for thinking that. She resisted the temptation for quite a while. She knew that it was wrong. She knew that she would probably get caught.
After a time of resistance, she succumbed to the temptation. she cashed the check.  The check did clear. She had the money. It was a huge help. She felt since she got away with it, it was ok.
She got another check. The checks kept coming. She kept cashing them. She convinced herself that it was fine. She did not worry about getting caught. She believed that she got away with it.

The social security administration discovered the era. They discovered that the checks had been cashed. They knew that she was the one who had cashed it. A wasn’t was issued for her arrest.  She was wanted for benefit fraud.
